Although it is something that was already used in the 2014 World Cup, the International Football Association Board has approved the test of video technology in European competitions.

The use of this technology will help referees in their decisions during a match, and will be tested in UEFA Europa and Champions League competitions. Several football associations have shown their support to this measure, and if tests turn out to be successful, the use of this video technology could be introduced permanently in a near future.
